The Federation Starship Fife, a Chandley class frigate, was named for Commodore Charles Vincent Fife, commander of a Western Alliance naval squadron during the Persian Gulf campaigns of the Eugenics Wars on Earth. The Fife's hull was laid down at the Utopia Planitia Fleet Yards in orbit of Mars in October 2276, and was commissioned in February 2277. The Fife was commanded by Captain Jason Culver when it encountered a Doomsday Machine near the planet Ectair on 3 June 2281.[3]
