The Eugenics Wars was a series of connected conflicts that occurred between 1992 and 1996 on Earth. Some historians later connected them as part of World War III. The Eugenics Wars began when a group of genetically modified Humans,[1] known as Augments,[2] simultaneously seized power in more than forty nations. The most powerful of them, Khan Noonien Singh, personally controlled a quarter of the planet. The Augments were deposed in 1996; unknown to the public at the time, 85 of them, including Khan, escaped in cryogenic suspension aboard the S.S. Botany Bay, a DY-100 class interplanetary vessel.[1] Stavos Keniclius also escaped into space aboard a different vessel, and eventually made his way to Phylos.[3]
