After the destruction of Romulus in 2387, Nero took his ship, the Narada, which had been upgraded with Borg technology, to attack the Federation, which he blamed for failing to help save his homeworld from the Hobus supernova. He destroyed dozens of ships, as well as a Klingon fleet led by General Worf, whom he nearly killed. Ultimately, Nero confronted Spock in the Hobus system. When Spock used red matter to create an artificial singularity to contain the worst of the blast, both were pulled into the singularity and presumed to have been killed.[1]
