The Diviner was a Vau N'Akat, and claimed that he and his progeny, Gwyndala, were the last of their race. He was obsessed with finding the U.S.S. Protostar NX-76884, a derelict Starfleet vessel with highly advanced technology,[1] and spent nearly twenty years searching for it[2] on the asteroid Tars Lamora, which he converted into a prison colony filled with enslaved captives taken from throughout the Delta Quadrant, who mined for chimerium, a rare and valuable mineral, as both a cover for his true goal as well as for use as a trading commodity.[1]
