The Federation Starship Cygnus, a Hermes class scout, was the lead vessel of the Cygnus subclass (aka the Cygnus class), and was authorized for production by the Starfleet Appropriation of Stardate 3669. The Cygnus subclass was specially outfitted for regular duty as command and diplomatic couriers.[1]
