Frostbite was a condition where freezing temperatures caused damaged to a body's tissues. Lieutenant Sulu and several other members of a landing party on Alfa 177 suffered frostbite while stranded on the surface after the transporter was rendered inoperative.^[1] When Commander Spock and Dr. McCoy were inadvertently sent back in time to Sarpeidon's ice age, McCoy suffered frostbite before the pair was able to find shelter.^[2]
