Some medication could be administered orally in solid form as a pill. On Stardate 1313.8, Doctor Piper administered an oral stimulant to Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock in pill form.[1] When Dr. McCoy was having trouble sleeping, Kirk suggested that he take a tranquilizer — "one of those red pills" — like McCoy had prescribed to him the previous week.[2]
