Myriad Universes: sensors
Sensors, sometimes called scanners, were devices that allowed for the detection of events or changes in the environment, such as light or gravity.[1] The sensors aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 were said to be so sensitive that they could detect the heat of a lit match from orbit.[2] They could also determine a life form's internal temperature, as well as detect the electrical impulses of their nervous system and determine if they were in motion.[3] Sensors were in frequent use aboard the ship as well, and could be set to detect sounds as faint as a heartbeat.[4] Tricorders were a type of handheld sensor device.[2]
