The concept of a soul was common in many religions, and was generally understood to be an immortal energy form that continued on after someone's physical body died.[1] During a hearing on Stardate 1329.2, Harry Mudd objected to the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 computer when it exposed his lies, stating, "Surely you're not going to take the word of a soulless mechanical device over that of a real, flesh and blood man."[2]
