Harmon Axelrod (FASA)
Harmon Axelrod of Earth was elected to serve as the first President of the Federation Council, shortly after the incorporation of the United Federation of Planets on Reference Stardate 0/8706.06 (6 June 2087). He served for fourteen years, ending in 2101.[1][2][3]
Upon taking office, Axelrod said, "It is my very great pleasure to officially proclaim the incorporation of the United Federation of Planets this stardate at Babel. I welcome, as founding member planets, the Earth, Vulcan, Tellar, Andor ... and Alpha Centauri.[4] I am sure this number will grow as new lifeforms are encountered and as we demonstrate the utility and wisdom of this Federation. ... The United Federation of Planets has not been inaugurated to diminish a planet's sovereignty but to assist it in its galactic development."[1]
