The Babcock class frigate entered service on Reference Stardate 2/2002 (February 2220). Of the 140 Babcock class frigates commissioned by Reference Stardate 2/2306 (June 2223), 84 Mark IIs and all 48 Mark Vs remained in active service. One Mark II was in use by Star Fleet Training Command, six Mark IIs had been destroyed, and one Mark II was listed as missing. Babcock class frigates were constructed at the Morena and Merak shipyards at a combined rate of 16 per year.[1]
