- RSD 1/27: The largest supernova in recorded history occurs when the star Phi Puma explodes. In the process, the Newton class research ship Kepler is vaporized. The last communication from the ship, from science officer Wilhelm Henke, indicates that the gravitational deformations made warp drive impossible.[1]
- RSD 1/27: The Byrne class hospital ship is commissioned. With a complement of 850, including patients and passengers, the class will remain in service until 2165.[1]
January
- RSD 1/2701.14 (14 January): Human and Andorian settlers on Beta VI order the removal of the pre-existing Orion colony there, claiming "chronic criminal activity and corruption." A Federation High Commission is appointed at the insistence of the Botchok Planetary Congress, but advocates relocation of the colony. The Orions leave without paying their bills, costing Beta VI 21.32 million credits, plus the Federation-ordered costs of moving the Orions.[2]
