Commodore L.T. Stone was the portmaster and commanding officer of Starbase 11 in early 2267. Prior to commanding the starbase, Stone once commanded a starship. On Stardate 2947.3, he discovered evidence that indicated Captain James T. Kirk of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 perjured himself in his official report on the death of Lieutenant Commander Ben Finney. Stone initially attempted to force Kirk into a ground assignment and sweep the incident under the rug "for the good of the service," but Kirk insisted on bringing the matter to a full court martial. Stone presided over the trial, and Kirk was exhonerated when evidence came to light that Finney had faked his death and altered the computer records.[1] Stone was succeeded soon thereafter as commander of Starbase 11 by Commodore José Mendez.[2]
