Chronometers were used to keep track of time. On Stardate 1514.0, Lieutenant Sulu used the chronometer at his station on the bridge of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 to track the time remaining until the deadline given by Commander Balok during a tense First Contact with the First Federation.[1]
