The Federation Starship Valor was a Centaur class light cruiser. In 2409, the Valor, under the command of Captain Stefan Marz, stopped in the Lackey system to mine additional dilithium to compensate for difficulties encountered in the Paulson Nebula, but was attacked and disabled by Gorn Vishap class frigates, which were part of an illegal mining operation in the system's asteroid field. Another Starfleet vessel responded to the Valor's distress signal, fighting off the attacking Vishap and Tuatara class vessels before collecting enough dilithium for the Valor to limp to Starbase 157 for more extensive repairs. Before leaving, Captain Marz directed the other Starfleet vessel to investigate more Gorn activity detected at the system's third planet.[1]
