Jon Daily[1] was the captain of the transport vessel S.S. Astral Queen. An old friend of Captain James T. Kirk, he owed multiple favors to the Starfleet captain. On Stardate 2817.6, Kirk called in one of those favors; the Astral Queen was scheduled to transport the Karidian Company of Players from Planet Q to Benecia Colony, and Kirk asked Daily not to make the appointment. Daily agreed, and the Company was forced to take passage on Kirk's ship, the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701.[2]
