The Federation Starship Rommel was a Larson class destroyer commissioned on Reference Stardate 1/9801 (January 2198). The Rommel was refit to Mark II specifications on RSD1/9808 (August 2198), giving it more powerful phasers and an additional torpedo launcher. On RSD2/1212 (December 2212), the ship was refit again to the Mark VI configuration, and RSD2/1606 (June 2216) saw another refit, this time to the Mark VII specifications. As of RSD2/2306 (June 2223), the Rommel was still on active service.[1] The Rommel was no longer in service by RSD2/9010 (October 2290), when the Wellington class light cruiser U.S.S. Rommel NCC-50007 was commissioned.[2]
