(The root of all realities)

The Federation Starship Phoenix, a Nebula class cruiser, was commanded by Captain Benjamin Maxwell, who ordered an unauthorized attack on Cardassian forces near Sector 21503 in 2367, destroying two Cardassian ships and a Cardassian science station. Maxwell, who was subsequently relieved of his command by a team from the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701-D, intended to prove his suspicions that the Cardassians were planning a new offensive against the Federation.[1] Presumably, the Phoenix was named for Zefram Cochrane's historic warp ship, which first broke the light-speed barrier in 2063.[2]
