In 2267, Ensign Pavel Chekov, navigator aboard the I.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701, attempted to assassinate Captain James T. Kirk, not realizing that he had actually been transposed with his counterpart from another universe at the time. The other Kirk barely escaped Chekov's trap, and Chekov was sent to the agony booth as a surprisingly light punishment.[1]
