Mike was a lieutenant in the command division of Starfleet. On Stardate 2948.5, Mike was present at Starbase 11 when his Starfleet Academy classmate James T. Kirk was accused of negligence in the death of Lieutenant Commander Ben Finney, who had been their instructor at the Academy. Mike had very little to say to Kirk.[1]
