Reference Stardate 0/7001 through 0/7912
2070
- RSD 0/70: Over a three-year period, from 2067 through 2070, ten Space Arks leave Earth, never to return. Eventually, it is discovered that all but one of these ships were lost. The last, named Terra 10, launches this year.[1]
2071
- RSD 0/71: As an undeclared alliance of star systems continues to grow, commercial space lanes with convenient transfer points are set up to encourage trade. The MD1075 Multi-Dock has a complement of 15 people and will remain in service until 2098.[1]
2072
- RSD 0/72: Earth publishes a detailed study regarding interstellar cooperation, which concludes with a call for an official alliance between Vulcan, Alpha Centauri, and Earth.[1]
2073
- RSD 0/7308.20 (20 August): First contact is made with the Tellarites when a single Tellarite patrol ship enters the Sol system and claims it as "an addition to the Tellarite Territories." Admiral Abel Niwen, commanding the Solar Fleet forces from the Liberty class U.N.S.S. BonHomme Richard, elects to diplomatically welcome the Tellarite vessel, while warning that any hostile action will be reciprocated. The Tellarite commander abruptly accepts what he sees as an offer of friendship and implied military alliance. Admiral Niwen will receive the Medal of Honor for his actions, and later retires to serve as Earth's first ambassador to Tellar.[1][2][3]
- RSD 0/73: The Glenn class space bus is retired from service.[1]
2074
- RSD 0/74: Introduction of Warp Radio allows communication between nearby star systems in weeks rather than years.[1]
2075
- RSD 0/75: The first interstellar scouts, the Franklin class (not to be confused with the unmanned Franklin series probe), enter service; carrying a crew of four, they will remain in service until 2095.[1]
2076
- RSD 0/76: The first unmanned, computer guided, interplanetary ships (cargo carriers) begin transporting raw materials and other freight. They will remain in service until 2107.[1]
2077
- RSD 0/77: The Cochrane class is retired from service.[1]
- RSD 0/77: An unofficial meeting of diplomats convenes at Alpha Centauri to discuss the possibility of an alliance. Attending are the representatives of Vulcan, Andor, Tellar, Earth, as well as the host planet.[1]
2078
- RSD 0/78: The Messier class warp cruiser enters service. The U.N.S.S. Pollux is one of the first ships of the class. This becomes the last entirely Earth-built major ship series. Carrying a crew of 93, the class remains in service until 2110. Refitted for military use, many Messier class ships, including the Pollux, will see considerable action during the Romulan War.[1]
2079
- RSD 0/79: Through information supplied by the Tellarites, Humans visit the Rigel trading planet with the Merchant class U.N.S.S. Marco Polo, filled with a wide range of goods. This leads to the discovery that their electronics and metallurgy are more advanced than many.[1]
- RSD 0/79: The WP174 Work Pod is commisioned, and remains in service until 2098.[1]
