Constitution class[1]
Constitution class refit[2]

Construction on the Constitution class Starship El Dorado[Notes 1] was authorized by the Starfleet Appropriation of Stardate 3220.[3] The El Dorado was constructed to Mark II specifications and commissioned on Reference Stardate 2/0109 (September 2258);[Notes 2] on Reference Stardate 2/0212 (December 2259), the ship was refit to Mark III specifications, then to Mark IV on Reference Stardate 2/1202 (February 2269). The El Dorado was placed in an inactive reserve fleet on Reference Stardate 2/2006 (June 2277). On Reference Stardate 2/2111 (November 2278), the El Dorado was recalled to active service and upgraded to Mark III of the Refit specifications,[4][Notes 3] then refit once more, to Mark IV specifications, on Reference Stardate 2/3608 (August 2294). The El Dorado was declared lost on Reference Stardate 2/4702 (February 2305).[5]

Note

  1. The registry listed for the El Dorado in the "Federation Ship Recognition Manual," NCC-1724, conflicts with that given in the "Star Fleet Technical Manual," NCC-1722, as well as with the registry of the U.S.S. Saratoga NCC-1724, and must be disregarded.
  2. FASA game materials referred to events by a FASA-specific dating standard called the "Reference Stardate." All dates taken from FASA sources in this article have been adapted from that notation into standard calendar dates, which are then adjusted for errors in the baseline dates used as reference by the FASA authors. Working with a known, dated event (e.g., the launch of the Constitution class starships), the other dates in the timeline can be adjusted accordingly. FASA sources give the launch of the Constitution class as Reference Stardate 1/8801.04, which translates to the standard caldendar date of 04 January 2188. This has been established on screen, however, as occurring in 2245. As the exact month and date remain unstated in other sources, those remain the same, but the year has been adjusted to 2245, giving a modified date of 04 January 2245. This can then also be converted into the pre-TOS stardate system established in Star Trek (2009), giving us a stardate of 2245.004.
  3. Although the "Federation Ship Recognition Manual" implied that there were actually two ships named El Dorado, both with the same registry number and the second being commissioned 18 months after the first was placed on inactive status, they have been merged into a single vessel to avoid confusion and further conflicts.
