The surface of Lazarus' planet was accidentally devastated when he traveled to an alternate reality, which he referred to as an "antimatter universe." His counterpart from that reality chased him across time and space when his world was similarly devastated, and they became locked in an interdimensional corridor after an encounter with the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 on Stardate 3087.6.[1]
