The Class F shuttlecraft was first brought into service concurrent with the commissioning of the Constitution class starships to which it was primarily assigned,[1] and often served as a personnel and cargo transportation vehicle.[2] The class had a hull constructed of duranium and were powered by ion engines.[3] The shuttles were 24 feet long[2] and were equipped with warp drive,[3] though their normal speed was typically restricted to 0.89c.[1] The class could carry up to six passengers, and while it was designed for two pilots,[2] it could be operated by a single person.[1]
