The Constitution class Starship Republic was commissioned on Reference Stardate 2/1904 (January 2278),[Notes 1] following the disappearance of the U.S.S. Republic NCC-1371 on Reference Stardate 2/0808 (August 2266).[1] Shari Shranim served aboard the Republic during her first year of service.[2] On Reference Stardate 2/2107.08[3] (8 July 2284), the Republic, commanded by Fleet Captain Sufik, led the fleet for Operation Tactical Encounters XXVI, a major Starfleet exercise intended to field-test new tactical formations.[4] The Republic was refit to Mark III specifications on Reference Stardate 2/2511 (November 2288), and to Mark IV specifications on Reference Stardate 2/3710 (October 2300). On Reference Stardate 2/5512 (December 2318), the Republic was scrapped.[5]
