Status Destroyed (June 20, 2156)

The NX class Starship Atlantis was under construction at the Proxima Shipyard in November 2155. Atlantis was launched in February 2156, shortly after the outbreak of the Romulan War. The ship's first assignment was to help test the warp-detection grids provided to Coalition worlds by the Vulcans.[1]

Soon thereafter, Atlantis accompanied the Enterprise NX-01, newly refitted to the Columbia class specifications, in a days-long standoff with a squadron of four Romulan Birds of Prey. The Romulans opened fire first, striking Atlantis, but the Earth forces returned fire, damaging one Bird of Prey and dispersing the others.[2][3]

On June 20, 2156, Atlantis was destroyed over Tau Ceti IV during a Romulan invasion of that world, but the crew managed to reach the escape pods before the ship's destruction.[4]
