- RSD 1/9203: The Klingon D-4B "Predator" class variant, used in the Axanar task force as well as throughout the Four Years War, enters service.[4][5]
- RSD 1/9203: Star Fleet's Cygnus class courier/command operations ship becomes operational, with nine built. These vessels will serve as battle fleet operations centers throughout the Four Years War.[5]

- RSD 1/9204: Star Fleet Intelligence later learns that the Klingon L-6B "Defender" class frigate enters service. Though it does not see extensive action during the Four Years War, it is a powerful and effective warship, often successfully attacking and defeating two or three Federation destroyers and frigates at a time.[5]

- RSD 1/9212: Star Fleet Intelligence later learns that Klingon Group "U" under Admiral Kone leaves the Klingon naval base at H'rez.[5]
- RSD 1/9212.21 (21 December): The U.S.S. Bohr reports observing a three-ship Klingon task force in unclaimed space between the Federation and Klingon spheres of influence. The small task force is a decoy to lure the Bohr from its patrol area, so that a 20-ship Klingon force can attack the Archanis IV Research Outpost. Klingon marines massacre the entire 112-person crew of the base in the first major Klingon atrocity in more than three decades, which begins an inexorable chain of events leading to war. Two massive Klingon battle fleets are detected over the next two months, but open hostilities do not begin immediately. The Federation begins to organize for conflict.[6][7][8]
