A simulation was an imitation of a real-world process or system, often used for testing, training or investigative purposes. On Stardate 1514.0, following an encounter by the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 with a First Federation warning buoy, Captain Kirk ordered a series of simulated combat drills to enhance the crew's combat readiness.[1]
