  • RSD 1/6512: The largest spacelift in history evacuates ten million inhabitants from Bayard's Planet. The planet is in the path of the expanding Phi Puma supernova, whose shockwave is expected to arrive within three days after the evacuation is completed, and is expected to initiate a chain reaction nova in the system's star, destroying all life in the system. Every starship within a fifty light year radius is pressed into service, and the relief effort is led by the Mann class U.S.S. Endurance, under the command of Admiral Okuru Nelson. The key to the successful evacuation, however, is devised by an engineer in the Star Fleet Merchant Marine named Sabella, who proposes refitting one of the new superconvoys with life support sufficient to accommodate passengers. The modules are quickly refitted at Starbase 5, and the entire planetary population is saved.[1][2]
