- RSD 1/1512: The U.S.S. Goliath and U.S.S. Juggernaut both fail to meet performance specifications, and are decommissioned and placed in storage. A major embarassment for Starfleet Engineering Command, funding allocations for research and development are virtually cut off for the next 30 years. Starfleet continues to accept commercial designs for new ships, but the Engineering Command only designs one major class, the Castor class cruiser, before Reference Stardate 1/4800 (2205).[1]
