Achernar class
The Achernar class cruisers became operational on Reference Stardate 1/9509 (September 2252) with the commissioning of the U.S.S. Achernar. A very successful design, 68 Achernar class vessels were built, and the class saw extensive combat during the Klingon War. Following the war, nearly all were destroyed in weapons testing as part of Starfleet's post-war demilitarization program.[1]
