One of the earliest known Human visitors to Qo'noS[1] following first contact by Captain Jonathan Archer and the Enterprise NX-01 in 2151[2][3] was Dr. Emanuel Tagore, whose notes on the Klingon Empire formed the basis for the findings of the Committee on the Klingon Estimate (a United Earth Republic[4] study group) and the popular book, An Informal History of the Klingon Empire, co-authored by John M. Ford. Much of what we know of Qo'noS was first revealed in Tagore's works and later confirmed by other sources.[5]

FASA Timeline

One of the earliest known Human visitors to Klinzhai was Dr. Emanuel Tagore, whose notes on the Klingon Empire formed the basis for the findings of the Committee on the Klingon Estimate (a UFP study group) and the popular book, An Informal History of the Klingon Empire, co-authored by John M. Ford. Much of what we know of Klinzhai was first revealed in Tagore's works and later confirmed by other sources.[5]

Long after the publication of the first edition of "The Klingons" in 1983, which established the name of the Klingon homeworld as Klinzhai, the name was officially given as Qo'noS (or, Kronos in an alternate transliteration) in 1991's Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. This entry has been adjusted to reflect the name used on screen.

  3. First contact between Humans and Klingons was shown on screen in the first episode of Enterprise, "Broken Bow." It is entirely conceivable that Tagore was among the first Humans to visit following the Enterprise's departure.
  4. In the original FASA/Spaceflight Chronology timeline, first contact with the Klingons did not occur until after the formation of the Federation. This entry has been modified to reflect first contact occuring while United Earth was still an independent entity.
