An improved version of the Wildcat class battlecruiser, itself a variant of the Tiger class cruiser, the Hellcat class heavy battlecruiser (BCH) was an attempt by the Lyran Star Empire to remain equal to the Federation's Kirov and Bismarck classes. The weapons were not improved beyond the standard refits, but increased power, protection, and number of shuttlecraft brought it up to superior standards.

Introduced in [[2300 (SFC)|2300], the BCH featured a crew complement of 560, a capacity of twelve shuttlecraft, and was equipped with four science labs, four transporters, six tractor beam emitters, and six mech tractors. The class was armed with four Expanding Sphere Generators, four banks of Type-4 disruptors, ten banks of Type-1 phasers, and two banks of Type-3 phasers.[1]
