Sam was a crew member aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 in 2266. He sparred with Captain Kirk in the ship's gymnasium, and the captain referred to him by his first name. On Stardate 1533.6, Charlie Evans, in a fit of adolescent anger, used the incredible mental powers given to him by the Thasians to make Sam vanish. Sam was later restored to reality by the Thasians.[1]
