Starbase 11 was a planet-based facility[1] located in the Alpha Quadrant[2] approximately six days' travel from the Talos Star Group at maximum warp (approximately Warp 8 in 2267). The base was commanded by Commodore José Mendez in 2267. Following a training accident that exposed him to delta radiation and left him a paraplegic, Fleet Captain Christopher Pike was kept at Starbase 11's hospital facility for several months before he was abducted by Commander Spock of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 and taken to Talos IV.[1]
