Starbase 11 was a planet-based facility constructed on a Class M moon,[1] located in the Alpha Quadrant.[2] The base was commanded by Commodore José Mendez in 2267. Following a training accident that exposed him to delta radiation and left him a paraplegic, Fleet Captain Christopher Pike was kept at Starbase 11's hospital facility for several months before he was abducted by Commander Spock of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 and taken to Talos IV, a six-day journey at the ship's maximum warp.[1]
