Constitution class[1]

The Federation Starship Constitution,[Notes 1] the prototype of the Constitution class,[2] was commissioned on Stardate 2245.004 (4 January[3] 2245[4]).[Notes 2] The Constitution boasted several new technologies, most notably Duotronic computers;[5] Stardate 2260.06 (June 2260) saw a refit to Mark III specifications.[6]

The Constitution saw combat during the Four Years War,[7] and the ship was commanded by Fleet Captain Kelvar Garth (aka Garth of Izar) from 2251 until 2255.[7][8][Notes 3] The Constitution was later commanded by Commodore Darion Page from 2256 until she was lost in action in 2269.[8] In 2267, the Constitution was at Starbase 11 for repairs.[9]

Notes

  1. Named for the famous United States Navy vessel, U.S.S. Constitution.
  2. "The Four Years War" and other FASA game materials referred to events by a FASA-specific dating standard called the "Reference Stardate." All dates taken from FASA sources in this article have been adapted from that notation into standard calendar dates, which are then adjusted for errors in the baseline dates used as reference by the FASA authors. Working with a known, dated event (e.g., the launch of the Constitution class starships), the other dates in the timeline can be adjusted accordingly. "The Four Years War" gives the launch of the Constitution class as Reference Stardate 1/8801.04, or 04 January 2188; this has been established on screen, however, as having occurred in 2245. As the exact month and date remain unstated in other sources, those remain the same, but the year is adjusted to 2245, giving a modified date of 04 January 2245. This can then be converted into the pre-TOS stardate system established in Star Trek (2009), giving us a stardate of 2245.004.
  3. "The Four Years War" established that Captain Garth commanded the Marklin class destroyer U.S.S. Xenophon during the Battle of Axanar in 2251. The "Star Trek Roleplaying Game Core Game Book" and "Starships" both stated that Garth commanded the Constitution from 2245 until 2255. I have reconciled this conflict by keeping Garth in command of the Xenophon until after the Battle of Axanar, at which point he is transferred to command the Constitution.
