Constitution class[1]

The Constitution class Starship Kongo, authorized for production on Stardate 0965,[2] was commissioned on Reference Stardate 1/9909 (September 2256),[Notes 1] and on Reference Stardate 2/0406 (June 2261) was refit to Mark III specifications.[3]

Commanded by Captain J.C. Fredriksen,[4] the Kongo, was ambushed by the Klingon D-10 class vessel I.K.V. Claw of the Riyity while responding to a distress call from the U.S.S. Searcher near the Klingon Neutral Zone on Reference Stardate 2/1712.28 (28 December 2274), which had reported uncovering evidence that a Klingons agent had planted an unknown disease on a Federation colony on Omicron Draconis VI; the Searcher's crew had also contracted the disease.[5]

The Kongo, with the Loknar class frigates U.S.S. Halk NCC-2742 and U.S.S. Rome NCC-2726, responded on Reference Stardate 2/1803 (March 2275) to a distress signal from a Federation outpost in the Orion sector, which was under attack by six Klingon D-18 class destroyers commanded by Captain Kresz sutai-Kargon. The outpost and all three Starfleet vessels were destroyed, while the Klingons lost only two of their destroyers.[4]

Notes

  1. FASA game materials referred to events by a FASA-specific dating standard called the "Reference Stardate." All dates taken from FASA sources in this article have been adapted from that notation into standard calendar dates, which are then adjusted for errors in the baseline dates used as reference by the FASA authors. Working with a known, dated event (e.g., the launch of the Constitution class starships), the other dates in the timeline can be adjusted accordingly. FASA sources give the launch of the Constitution class as Reference Stardate 1/8801.04, which translates to the standard caldendar date of 04 January 2188. This has been established on screen, however, as occurring in 2245. As the exact month and date remain unstated in other sources, those remain the same, but the year has been adjusted to 2245, giving a modified date of 04 January 2245. This can then also be converted into the pre-TOS stardate system established in Star Trek (2009), giving us a stardate of 2245.004.
