Prime Timeline
(The root of all realities)

Blood was a plasma-based substance that carried oxygen from the lungs throughout the body. "Blood" could also refer to one's ancestry. When Spock made a comment about "one of [his] ancestors" marrying a Human woman on Stardate 1312.4, Kirk joked that it was "terrible, having bad blood like that."[1] The ship's computer noted that the male members of the crew had increased respiration, perspiration, heartbeat, and blood pressure in the presence of the wiving settlers brought aboard the Enterprise on Stardate 1329.1.[2] The M-113 creature fed upon the salt found within an animal's body, such as Humans, draining it through the blood vessels near the surface of the skin.[3] Vulcan blood was based on copper, rather than iron, making it green in color[4] and unpalatable to the M-113 creature.[3] The difference in biochemistry also made Vulcans less susceptible to some diseases, like the Life Prolongation Project's virus.[5]
