Artificial gravity was produced by grav plating. U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 lost power to its engines during First Contact with the Talosians in [[Prime Chronology: 2254|2254], Spock noted that were it not for backup battery power, they would have lost gravity and life support.[1] After an encounter with the Galactic Barrier on Stardate 1312.4, gravity aboard the Enterprise was reduced to 0.8g.[2]
