She had become involved with another man, Stonn, and when Spock entered pon farr in 2267, T'Pring devised a plan: she would declare kal-if-fee, the only option available under Vulcan laws and traditions, to dissolve the marriage bond. She declared Spock's Human friend, Captain James T. Kirk, as her champion in the ritual combat. If Kirk won, Spock would be dead, and she would have Stonn. If Spock won, he would again leave for Starfleet, and she would have both his lands and titles, as well as Stonn. In the end, Spock won when Dr. McCoy helped fake Kirk's death.
