Starfleet Captain Christopher Pike was born in and spent his boyhood in the city of Mojave[1] in Southern California[2] on Earth. In 2254, the city, which had once been "nothing but desert[, b]lowing sand and cactus," had fifty miles of parkland surrounding it by the mid-23rd century.[1]
