The sixteenth President of the United States of America on Earth,[1] Abraham Lincoln was born in 1809[2] and served from 1861 until his assassination in 1865, during the American Civil War.[1] When the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701 discovered the Guardian of Forever, it showed them scenes from Earth's history, including political rallies for Lincoln's election and the events of the Civil War.[3] On Stardate 5906.4, the Excalbian Yarnek created a simulacrum of Lincoln to represent the side of good in a battle against evil. Lincoln was chosen because he was viewed as an heroic figure by Captain Kirk, who was also named to represent the side of good by Yarnek.[4]
