Mercury was the first planet from the sun in the Sol system.[3] In 2196, the Talosians downloaded the information in the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701's computers, including data on Mercury.[3] By 2/2306 (June 2223),[2] Mercury was home to an extensive mining operation[1] and a shipyard. The planet was home to a population of 220 million, and was a member of the United Federation of Planets in its own right.[2]
