Captain Christopher Pike owned a horse, Tango, in 2254.[1] When Ensign Spock was assigned to the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC-1701, Lieutenant Commander Una Chin-Riley, the ship's first officer, warned him that Pike was "utterly unsentimental … except about horses" and that Spock should "stay away from the topic."[2]
