Prime Timeline
(The root of all realities)

Starfleet was the space exploration and planetary defense arm of the United Federation of Planets.[1] Though the focus of Starfleet was on scientific study and exploration, Starfleet was a quasi-military organization with ranks and a defined chain of command.[2] Following the incorporation of the Federation by Earth, Alpha Centauri, Vulcan, Andoria, and Tellar Prime[3] on 12 August 2161,[4] Starfleet Command was formally established. To discourage the possible misuse of military forces anywhere in space, General Order Number One, aka the Prime Directive, was adopted as the most important regulation in Starfleet.[5]
