Marklin class (FASA 2218A)

The Federation Starship Xenophon was a Marklin class destroyer. On Reference Stardate 1/9405.29 (29 May 2251), the Xenophon, commanded by Captain Kelvar Garth, aka Garth of Izar, engaged in the Battle of Axanar.[Notes 1] The Xenophon was badly damaged in the battle,[1] and was decommissioned.[2][Notes 2]

On Reference Stardate 1/9405.29 (29 May 2194), the Xenophon, commanded by Captain Kelvar Garth, aka Garth of Izar, spotted a Klingon D-4 class cruiser near Axanar. A confrontation with the Klingon ship led to the discovery of a Klingon occupation force at Axanar, and the resulting Battle of Axanar sparked the Four Years War. The Xenophon was badly damaged in the battle,[1] and was decommissioned.[2][Notes 2]

  1. ↑ The episode "Whom Gods Destroy" established that Kirk had studied Garth's tactics from the Battle of Axanar during his time at Starfleet Academy; this places the events of the Battle some time prior to Kirk's graduation in 2255 at the latest. The converted FASA date for the battle places it in 2251, so that dating has been retained. Star Trek: Discovery, however, showed a very different course of events for the Klingon War of the 23rd Century than those portrayed in the Four Years War, and the Battle of Axanar is therefore impossible to include in a conflict with the Klingons.
