- RSD 1/89: The Romulan T-2 "Death Talon" class (Type 1) destroyer enters service.[1]
- RSD 1/89: Human Luck Lode opens on Selka.[2]
January
- RSD 1/8901: Star Fleet's Apache class destroyer becomes operational with the commissioning of the U.S.S. Apache, and 26 are built.[3]
- RSD 1/8901: The Constitution class U.S.S. Excalibur NCC-1664 is commissioned.[4]
February
- RSD 1/8902: Star Fleet Intelligence later learns the Klingon Z-4B "Deathgame" class defense outpost enters service. The construction of a powerful, yet somewhat mobile, defensive installation signalled the beginning of a shipbuilding program in preparation for war against the Federation.[5][3]
- RSD 1/8902: The Eagle class starliner, using dilithium warp engines, expands the range of Federation tourism. A total of 255 will be constructed. During the Four Years War, a number of these ships will be temporarily converted into assault ships and freighters.[6][3]
March
- RSD 1/8903: The Larson class U.S.S. Poitiers NCC-4313 and U.S.S. Agincourt NCC-4314 are commissioned.[4]
June
- RSD 1/8906: Star Fleet's Monoceros class scout becomes operational, with 16 built.[3]
- RSD 1/8906: The Larson class U.S.S. Blenheim NCC-4315 is commissioned.[4]

- RSD 1/8908: The Larson class U.S.S. Torgau NCC-4316 is commissioned.[4]

- RSD 1/8909: Star Fleet Intelligence later learns that the Klingon K-3A "Kalath" class gunboat enters service. This ship, and the later B variant, serves as a system defense and convoy escort ship throughout the Four Years War.[3]
- RSD 1/8909: The Larson class U.S.S. Eylau NCC-4317 is commissioned.[4]
October
- RSD 1/8910: The Larson class U.S.S. Leyte NCC-4319 and U.S.S. Leipzig NCC-4320 are commissioned.[4]
