The Galaxy class Starship Challenger, under the command of Captain Geordi La Forge, tried unsuccessfully to prevent Chakotay and Harry Kim from changing history.[1] Named for the early Human spacecraft, destroyed in 1986 in an explosion that claimed the lives of seven astronauts shortly after launch.

Enterprise NCC-1701-E under Captain Data, was named commanding officer of the Challenger in 2397; he was succeeded as chief engineer on the Enterprise by Lieutenant Commander Nog.[2] Named for the early Human spacecraft, destroyed in 1986 in an explosion that claimed the lives of seven astronauts shortly after launch.
