- RSD 2/13: After two long years as a merchant captain, Fayel R'Zaad is becoming wealthy and bored. He has never had the chance to command a ship in combat, and the long merchant runs have done nothing for his craving for adventure. His ship is attacked by an Orion pirate vessel, and, although he fights with skill and daring, the virtually unarmed merchant is no match for the heavily-armed pirate. After a stiff fight, his ship is captured. Impressed by the ability of the merchant captain, the pirate is delighted and even more impressed when he discovers that the merchant skipper was an Orion. Instead of killing him, he is offered a position on the pirate ship.[1]
- RSD 2/13: Lieutenant Joshua Scott completes a two-year tour at Star Fleet Headquarters. The contacts he makes while on this duty will serve him well in his future operations.[1]

Millions of live Tribbles are found in the vessel's cargo hold, surviving on the food produced by a still-functional food synthesizer. Almost nine years later, two Mundy crewmembers are found, and they relate how renegade Klingons boarded the vessel, discovered the cargo of Tribbles, and killed or abandoned the entire crew.[3]
